0:00 A million-dollar tractor in a shrinking market 1:58 The downturn in big-tractor sales 4:00 The horsepower race begins again 6:21 The JD18 engine and the no-DEF advantage 12:07 Built at Waterloo Works in Iowa 13:16 Who the 9RX 830 is really for 19:43 The case for and against buying one 24:57 What it means for farmers and my verdict What does a million-dollar tractor look like when American farmers are buying fewer big machines? I take a close look at the John Deere 9RX 830, the 830-horsepower flagship built for the largest farms in the world. I break down its JD18 engine, DEF-free emissions system, tracks, hydraulics, technology, fuel demands and Iowa production, then examine who can actually justify a machine this expensive. I also compare it with the Case IH Steiger 715 and look at what farmers are saying about the 9RX in the field. Finally, I weigh the arguments for and against buying one, including depreciation, leasing, repair access, farm consolidation and the shrinking big-tractor market. Then I give my honest verdict on whether this impressive machine is worth the risk.
