Description

I bought a $120 cash register on eBay and installed Steam to see if it could actually play games. It’s an Elo touchscreen register with an i5-6500TE, 8GB of RAM, and Intel HD 530 graphics. Check out Twingate: https://twingate.com/?utm_source=ray.does.tech&utm_campaign=lt&utm_medium=social The register arrived without storage, so I installed a drive, got Windows running, and tested everything on its built-in 1024×768 display. I tried GTA V Legacy, the original Skyrim, Mafia II, Ravenfield, Mount & Blade: Warband, Day of Infamy, Minecraft, and Fallout: New Vegas. Some games struggled, but others ran way better than I expected from a machine built for a checkout counter. Would I recommend buying one instead of a used gaming PC? Probably not. But I had a lot of fun finding out what this weird little computer could do.
