Description

Before the gates open, the tea stoves are already lit in Turkey's Grand Bazaar, one of Earth's oldest markets still trading every day. Sixty-one covered streets carry the names of their trades, and behind the shopfronts stand more workshops than shops. Goldsmiths melt a week of floor sweepings back into one clean bar. In Mardin, Muslim and Syriac Christian traders have shared the same limestone lanes for six centuries. A caravanserai on the Konya road fed any traveller free for three days, by written deed. Safranbolu keeps one shoemaker in a courtyard built for forty-eight. This 4K travel documentary follows a working day through bazaars across Turkey: Istanbul, Mardin, Van, Sanliurfa, Safranbolu, Diyarbakir and the Black Sea coast. You will learn how carpets are knotted and dyed with madder root and walnut husk, how saffron is picked three threads to a flower, how a thousand glasses of tea move on metal tokens instead of cash, and why a market that burned sixteen times was rebuilt every time. #traveldocumentary #turkey #istanbul #grandbazaar
