The Filipinos Were Never Who We Thought — Dna Revealed Their Hidden Ancestry

What does Filipino DNA reveal about the ancient origins of the people of the Philippines? In this video, we explore the fascinating genetic history of Filipinos and the migrations that shaped the Philippine population. Modern Filipino populations have a remarkably complex ancestry, reflecting multiple waves of migration across thousands of years. Genome-wide research has identified ancestry connected to early Philippine populations, Austronesian-speaking groups, East Asia, and Papuan-related populations, while different indigenous communities show distinct genetic histories. We’ll explore Filipino ancestry, ancient DNA, Austronesian migration, Negrito ancestry, Southeast Asian genetics, Philippine population genetics, and the deep history of human migration across the Asia-Pacific. The evidence reveals that there is no single simple Filipino genetic origin. Instead, the Philippines became a crossroads where different populations met, migrated, mixed, and developed distinct communities.
