Description

I turned two computers into competing AI anime studios to test an end-to-end AI video generation workflow: one run by ChatGPT, the other by Claude. Each AI agent had to create an original anime trailer, and you decide which studio gets $500 to make Episode 1. This AI filmmaking challenge went far beyond generating a few clips. Each studio had to develop an original story and characters, use AI image generation and AI animation to build every shot, create AI voices, music, and sound effects, and complete its own AI video editing before delivering a finished 60–90-second trailer. Using OpenAI Codex and Claude Code, I gave each AI control of its own computer and access to the same production tools. Kling AI served as the primary AI video generator, ElevenLabs handled AI voice generation and audio, and both agents built automated video editing workflows to assemble their final AI films. Follow both autonomous AI agents from the first pitch to the final premiere as they tackle character consistency, image-to-video animation, AI storytelling, and the creative decisions that separate a real movie trailer from AI slop. ChatGPT had the stronger PC and more expensive plan; Claude had an old gaming computer and something to prove. Can autonomous AI agents make an anime people actually want to watch—or can even the best AI video tools generate clips without making a coherent film? Watch both original trailers, then judge which AI anime studio did it better. VOTE IN THE COMMENTS: ChatGPT or Claude? Which trailer deserves a full episode? The winning studio gets $500 to create Episode 1.
