Only One Place (1987) — And I Think You Already Know | Dreamwave · Synthwave · Retrowave

Dreamwave, synthwave & retrowave — a lost 80s FM radio hit from an alternate timeline. 🌴 Night Drive Records — synthetic nights, analog dreams. Vintage hardware tones (LinnDrum, TR-909, Juno-106, DX7) built for late-night drives, endless highways, and neon-lit cities that never existed. Two people leave the city behind, with nowhere they need to go and nothing left to prove. As the familiar sounds of the radio fill the silence, a simple touch reveals what they’ve known all along: sometimes there’s only one place left to go. “Only One Place” blends dreamwave, synthwave, retrowave, and authentic 1980s production into a forgotten FM radio anthem from an alternate timeline. Warm analog synths, atmospheric textures, melodic hooks, and heartfelt vocals capture the quiet certainty of finding your way back to the person who feels like home. Created with modern creative tools and inspired by the timeless sound of the 1980s. LYRICS — ONLY ONE PLACE [Verse 1] Skyline fading in the rear Watched the city disappear You reached across the quiet space And locked your fingers in their place Your palm rested against my wrist A quiet turn I couldn’t miss [Chorus] There’s only one place left to go Two shadows on a empty road I turned the dial to find the sound Of the only truth I’ve ever found No more running from the dark No more chasing every spark There’s only one place left to go And I think you already know [Verse 2] The tape is playing soft and low We got nowhere we need to go You trace a line across my palm Right in the center of the calm All the noise is letting go As the high beams start to glow [Chorus] There’s only one place left to go Two shadows on a empty road I turned the dial to find the sound Of the only truth I’ve ever found No more running from the dark No more chasing every spark There’s only one place left to go And I think you already know [Bridge — Spoken] “We don’t have to look back anymore.” [Final Chorus] There’s only one place left to go Two shadows on a empty road The static clears right off the screen To show us what we’ve always been No more danger, no more lies Just the horizon in your eyes There’s only one place left to go And now I finally know New tracks uploaded regularly.
