🔗 The Complete Method I Teach, Written Down — The Door, The Road, The Days Away: https://edbrannigan.com
Somebody knocks on your front door at eleven on a Tuesday. You're at work. Nobody answers.
That knock was the first thing they checked, and what happens in the next forty seconds decides whether your house gets skipped.
I didn't personally interview four hundred burglars. Nobody on patrol does. The number comes from criminologists at UNC Charlotte, who surveyed incarcerated burglars about how they choose houses, what stops them, and what they do once inside. 422 answered. What they said lines up almost exactly with what I watched happen across twenty-five years of taking reports.
Your picture of a burglar is wrong. Most break-ins happen in daylight, on weekdays, when the house is empty. The person doing it isn't trying to get into your house. He's choosing a house, and he takes whichever one looks like the least work.
In this video: what gets checked and in what order. Why so many knock first and what the story is. What a dog actually does. The difference between a camera and a sticker. The number about unlocked doors that should change how you think about all of this. The ten-minute frame fix almost nobody does. And where he goes the moment he's inside.
Plus what doesn't work, and the one genuinely dangerous decision people make when they come home and something is wrong.
💬 Do you have long screws in your door frames? I suspect the honest answer is very few of you.
