Description
I used to roar at older kids on the playground to impress them. It did not work. But dinosaurs?
Dinosaurs were everything.
As a kid I was obsessed. Drew them in every notebook. Played with the action figures. Watched every movie. And for one golden era — the 90s through early 2000s — video games were just as obsessed as I was. Dino games were everywhere, across literally every genre. Survival horror, FPS, action, even fighting games. Shit was bitching, not going to lie.
Then they just... disappeared.
This video is me finally giving them the attention they deserve — dragging our prehistoric puppies back into the spotlight and breaking down exactly how dinosaur games rose, dominated, and quietly went extinct.
We cover the 1993 Jurassic Park movie and how it changed everything — because before Spielberg, dinos in film were just clunky masses that didn't move like real creatures. Then the Sega Genesis tie-in that actually let you play as the Velociraptor from the movies (why would you ever play as Alan Grant when that was an option). The Lost World arcade shooter that went hard right as the entire arcade era was dying. Dino Crisis — Shinji Mikami taking the Resident Evil formula and making it faster, scarier, and more intense. Peter Jackson's King Kong, the most underrated Skull Island survival game ever made. And the 2008 Turok reboot that was doing stealth ecosystems and cinematic knife kills before anyone else was.
Then we get into why the genre collapsed — and what's quietly been happening since.
Spoiler: the dinos never actually died. They just evolved.
