Description

Before the legendary landing at Inchon could change the course of the Korean War, a handful of men had to slip deep into enemy-controlled waters and accomplish a mission so dangerous that failure could doom the entire invasion. Led by U.S. Navy Lieutenant Eugene F. Clark and aided by South Korean officers, sailors, resistance fighters, and local civilians, the covert Operation Trudy Jackson established a hidden outpost just miles from Inchon, gathering the intelligence that maps and aerial reconnaissance could never provide. They secretly surveyed minefields, confirmed the massive tides, identified North Korean gun positions, captured enemy prisoners, fought off attacks by enemy forces, and risked the lives of an entire island community to keep the mission alive. As the invasion fleet approached, one final task remained: lighting the Palmi-do lighthouse at precisely the right moment to guide more than 260 Allied ships through one of the world's most treacherous amphibious approaches. This is the extraordinary true story of Operation Trudy Jackson, the secret reconnaissance mission that helped make the Inchon landings possible, and the American and South Korean heroes whose actions in the shadows helped turn the tide of the Korean War. - As images and footage of actual events are not always available, Dark Docs sometimes utilizes similar historical images and footage for dramatic effect.
