Heljar Dóttir (Daughter of Hel) | Old Norse Viking Music

Nordic Versecraft presents “Heljar Dóttir”, a dark Old Norse song about a dead Norse woman walking the cold road toward Hel. 🕯️🌫️ She did not fall beneath a sword, nor was she chosen for Valhǫll. Sickness took her life, and Hel claimed her. Through mist and silence she travels toward the river Gjöll, across Gjallarbrú, and onward to the gates of the northern realm of the dead. The title is used poetically. She is not the literal daughter of the goddess Hel, but a woman who has entered her realm and now carries its name. Dark female vocals, ritual drums, deep chants and a memorable refrain shape the sound of her final journey.
