Description

Who was the very last dinosaur on Earth? Somewhere on this planet, at some specific moment 66 million years ago, a single animal died and an empire that had lasted 165 million years ended, quietly, with nobody watching. In this documentary we work out who held on the longest after the asteroid, and the answer is not what most people expect. The image most of us carry is wrong. The asteroid did not kill the dinosaurs instantly. Extinction is a slow, uneven process, and the killing took time. We walk forward through the disaster hour by hour to work out exactly who was still alive at each stage: who survived the heat pulse from the burning sky, who crawled out of the burrows and rivers into a world on fire, and why the survivors were nothing like the animals you see in museums.
