Did you know the sacred story behind why Lord Ganesha is immersed in water after 10 days? According to ancient lore, Maharishi Ved Vyasa requested Lord Ganesha to scribe the epic Mahabharata. The condition was that the recitation and writing would go on without a single pause. For ten straight days, Ganesha wrote relentlessly. Due to the sheer mental intensity and speed, His body temperature began to rise drastically. To help Him cool down, Sage Vyasa applied a layer of sacred mud and clay all over His body. On the 10th day Anant Chaturdashi when the epic was finally completed, Vyasa took Ganesha to the sacred Saraswati River to wash off the clay and bring Him complete relief.
