Description

Moscow has just faced one of the largest Ukrainian drone assaults of the war. Russian authorities claim more than 1,600 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over three days, including roughly 450 reportedly heading toward Moscow. Explosions and smoke were reported around the Russian capital, while the Moscow oil refinery was hit and fires broke out as Russia completed its parliamentary elections. In this episode of Power Faultlines, we break down how Ukraine’s long-range drone campaign has evolved, why Moscow’s air defenses are being stretched, and how repeated strikes on Russian oil refineries, airports and strategic infrastructure are forcing the Kremlin to defend an enormous territory. Ukraine’s expanding drone production could make that challenge even greater. With Kyiv pushing to increase long-range strike capacity, Russia may be forced to choose between protecting Moscow, its oil infrastructure, military bases and other critical facilities across the country. This is no longer a war Russia can keep far from its own capital.
