Description

Suspended South African Police Service Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya appeared before the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee on 22 September 2026 where he testified about the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team, the movement of 121 dockets, and his alleged connections to individuals linked to organised crime networks under investigation by the Madlanga Commission into Political Killings in KwaZulu-Natal. In a separate development on 21 September 2026 a 59-year-old senior SAPS Lieutenant General was arrested by the Commission Recommendations Task Team following a months-long undercover investigation on charges of rape and sexual grooming, with SAPS confirming the existence of overwhelming evidence and encouraging any additional victims to come forward, while four individuals including a family member of alleged organised crime figure Vusumzi Cat Matlala were simultaneously arrested in Pretoria in connection with a fraudulent lease agreement linked to Matlala. Alleged Madlanga Commission witness Brown Mogotsi had his fourth bail application denied at the Randburg Magistrates Court after a magistrate found he had submitted five inconsistent addresses and represented an ongoing flight risk, while Mogotsi separately invoked his right to silence when questioned before the Madlanga Commission about his alleged meetings with senior SAPS officials prior to the January 8 2026 ANC event in Cape Town.#shadracksibiya #brownmogotsi #madlangacommission
