Description
If you want to walk up into this country and come back down alive: www.Otisboone.com
The most haunted place I know in these mountains is a spot where nobody has ever died.
Appalachia has more than its share of ghosts. There's a man in the North Carolina hills who is buried in three different graves. There are 19 men in West Virginia that nobody ever brought home. And there's a lake up in the Smokies that only certain people have ever been able to see.
In this one I'm telling you why these mountains are so haunted, the way it was told to me. We go back to how old these hills are, to the ghost songs the old country forgot and we didn't, and to dead that went into the ground wrong or never made it into the ground at all. We get into the murder ballads that have kept real victims walking for 200 years. Then there's the last reason, the one you need to know before you ever go up into the high country by yourself.
If you've ever felt something in these hills you couldn't put a name to, tell me about it in the comments. And subscribe if you want more true stories from up these hollers.
