Description

Here is how to clean your oven for about five dollars without buying any chemical sprays. I have been keeping house for over twenty-five years and I have never once used a store-bought oven cleaner. The method I am going to show you comes from my grandmother Fumiko, who raised her family in a farmhouse in the mountains of Tōno where there was no money for such things. She used vinegar, baking soda, and patience, and it works just as well today. In this video I will show you the right order to do things. First, pull the racks out and drop them in warm water with a dishwasher tablet to let the enzymes break down the grease while you work. Then clear out any loose crumbs and burnt bits from the bottom of your oven. The main cleaning is done with a baking soda paste and vinegar applied separately, because mixing them into a fizz does nothing useful. I also show you how to handle the heating element, what to do about the glass door, and a trick for lifting that stubborn char on the bottom of your oven using a razor blade and a gentle hand. You will learn why the self-clean function is not worth the risk and why scrubbing without softening first is wasted effort. By the end you will know how to get your oven clean and stay clean longer without breathing in harsh fumes or spending more than pocket change.
