Oscar Duarte (MEXICO) vs. Angel Fierro (MEXICO) | 4K - FULL HIGHLIGHTS #boxing #sports

🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: At just 27, Fierro sparked controversy by showing up drastically overweight on Friday for a fight contracted at 140 pounds. His opponent, 30-year-old Oscar Duarte, was understandably furious but ultimately agreed to proceed after accepting a $40,000 deduction from Fierro’s purse. Having already endured the frustration of a previous training camp going to waste, Duarte refused to let another opportunity slip away. Duarte (31-2-1, 23 KOs) entered the ring as a massive betting favorite, with most sportsbooks pricing him at odds of at least 10-to-1 against Fierro (23-5-2, 18 KOs). But the supposedly overmatched underdog refused to follow the script, pushing Duarte into a far more grueling and competitive battle than anyone anticipated. When the final bell sounded, Duarte had secured the narrow victory, yet the crowd erupted in loud boos as Jim Gray interviewed him at ringside. Duarte insisted that his aggression and forward pressure had earned him the decision, arguing that he consistently pursued Fierro and connected with the more effective punches. Despite acknowledging Fierro’s toughness and ability, Duarte remained convinced that he had done enough to win. The hostile reaction from the crowd did little to shake his confidence, instead fueling his determination to return for another all-out war. For Duarte, this victory carried significance beyond the official result. After enduring more than two months of frustration and setbacks leading into the matchup, overcoming Fierro’s unexpected resistance and the complications surrounding fight week made the hard-fought win especially meaningful.
