In 1995, astronomers aimed Hubble at a patch of sky so dark it seemed completely empty, and what came back shattered assumptions - 3,000 galaxies hiding in the void. For three decades, we thought we had seen everything that darkness could hold. Then Webb returned to that same exhausted patch with infrared eyes, stared for nearly 100 hours, and found over 2,500 sources that Hubble never could have seen - including objects so ancient and so red they exist only in wavelengths our eyes will never perceive.
In this breathtaking space documentary, we explore the deepest infrared image ever taken of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field - and what it reveals about the universe we thought we already understood.
In this cinematic documentary, we go deep:
→ The MIRI Deep Imaging Survey - Webb's longest single-filter extragalactic exposure at 5.6 micrometers
→ Over 100 extremely red galaxies completely invisible to Hubble, hidden behind curtains of interstellar dust
→ Massive ancient galaxies that stopped forming stars billions of years ago - cosmic fossils frozen in time
→ Mysterious "little red dots" that may contain supermassive black holes from the first 500 million years of existence
→ MIRI dropouts - phantom objects that vanish at every wavelength shorter than 5 micrometers, existing only in mid-infrared
Darkness is never absence. It is only the limit of the current eye.
