Description

Japan is one of those countries surrounded by stereotypes. But some things foreigners believe about Japan are very different from everyday reality. First, anime is what Japan is really like. Anime can make Japan look colorful, dramatic, and almost like a fantasy world. But real life is still real life. People go to work, go to school, commute, shop, and deal with everyday problems just like anywhere else. Sure, you might occasionally experience something that feels straight out of an anime, but Japan isn’t an anime world. Second, Japan is filled with cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji, and kimonos. These are all genuinely associated with Japanese culture. But they aren’t part of everyday life everywhere. Cherry blossoms bloom during specific seasons, Mount Fuji isn’t visible every day, and most Japanese people don’t wear kimonos as their daily clothing. Travel photos often capture specific moments rather than ordinary daily life. Third, Japanese people are obsessed with American culture. American movies, fashion, music, and entertainment are certainly popular in Japan. But that doesn’t mean every Japanese person is obsessed with American culture. For many people, it’s simply one of many foreign cultures they enjoy. #japan #japanlife #japaneseculture
