Description

On May 19, 2026, FBI agents searched a house in Ashburn, Virginia and found 298 gold bars, about $2.1 million in cash, more than 100,000 euros and dozens of luxury watches. The man who lived there, David Rush, was a senior CIA official with a top secret clearance. Prosecutors say he invented a classified program that never existed and used it to take about $194 million from the government. Around $145 million went to a holding company that bought four luxury properties in Palm Beach and Hobe Sound, Florida. On October 6, 2026, he pleaded guilty to wire fraud. He faces up to 20 years in prison. And the gold is not the worst thing in his court file.
