Description
Is Onimusha: Way of the Sword worth buying? In this review, I break down its incredible sword combat, and bosses as well as the repetitive content that keeps Capcom’s new Onimusha from being a masterpiece.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword has some of the best defensive action combat I’ve played in a long time. Parries, perfect dodges, Issens, and brutal boss fights make the combat incredible. But the repeated bosses, rifts, open hub activities, and a bloated 20+ hour campaign constantly kill the momentum.
I also compare Way of the Sword to the original Onimusha: Warlords and explain why I think the older game’s shorter, more focused structure still gets something right that modern games often forget: Respecting the player’s time.
If you’re wondering whether Onimusha: Way of the Sword is worth $70, whether you should wait for a sale, or how it compares to classic Onimusha, this review covers it all.
