Description
Texas has some of the cheapest land in America, but in certain forgotten towns, the low price comes with a much bigger story.
In this video, we explore 12 dirt-cheap Texas ghost towns and fading communities where land can sell for surprisingly little, yet almost nobody wants to move there.
From Barstow, Bruni, Catarina, Asherton, and Mirando City to Girvin, Orla, Langtry, Peyote, Sierra Blanca, Toyah, and Mentone, every place has a different reason why property remains so cheap.
Some towns lost the industries that once supported them. Others struggle with extreme isolation, limited jobs, long drives to hospitals, failing infrastructure, difficult water supplies, or mineral rights that can make owning Texas land far more complicated than it looks.
Catarina was built around a promise of endless water before its wells failed. Toyah spent years dealing with unsafe drinking water. Orla sits inside active oil country where owning the surface may not mean owning what lies underneath. And Mentone sits in one of the emptiest corners of Texas, where distance and lack of services make cheap land difficult to actually live on.
These places prove one important lesson: cheap land is only cheap until you try to live on it.
If you enjoy Texas ghost towns, cheap land, abandoned places, rural Texas, Texas real estate, off-grid living, and forgotten American towns, this video is for you.
