Description

Description: A rare look at Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868), one of the most celebrated Italian composers and great masters of 19th-century opera. Rossini created legendary works including The Barber of Seville and William Tell, securing his place among the most influential composers in music history. This remarkable portrait was photographed by the legendary French photographer Nadar in Paris in March 1856. The surviving image is a salted-paper print made from a glass negative and is preserved by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This historic photograph has been carefully restored and brought to life while preserving Rossini’s authentic historical appearance. Follow Real Faces of the Past for more authentic historical photographs, faithfully restored and brought back to life. #gioachinorossini #rossini #thebarberofseville #historicalphotos #photorestoration #shorts
