Description

Did you know the Philippines had the largest banknote in the world? In 1998, the Philippines’ central bank released a banknote to celebrate 100 years of Philippine independence. This was the ₱100,000 banknote. It was massive. Almost the size of a full sheet of paper, about 8.5 by 14 inches. The front shows Sigaw ng Himagsikan, or the Cry of Rebellion. The back features the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. Guinness World Records recognized it as the largest legal tender banknote ever issued. Then in 2018, it was officially demonetized, shortly after losing its title as the biggest banknote in the world. #philippines #interesting #facts #interestingfacts #filipino #didyouknow #education #history #philippinehistory #banknotes #currency #money #worldrecord
