Description

Arizona flash flooding hit the Phoenix metro as intense monsoon storms brought heavy rain, flooded roads and dangerous conditions across Maricopa County. A dramatic helicopter rescue unfolded near Maricopa after two people in their 80s became stranded in floodwater along State Route 238. Heavy monsoon rain caused significant flooding across parts of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa, leaving vehicles stranded and forcing road closures. Nearly three inches of rain fell in parts of northern Scottsdale, while emergency crews responded to multiple water rescues as rapidly rising floodwater overwhelmed streets, washes and low-lying areas across the Phoenix metropolitan area. One of the most dramatic moments happened on State Route 238, about 20 miles west of Maricopa, where a vehicle carrying two people in their 80s became trapped in floodwater. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deployed a helicopter and safely rescued both occupants as authorities warned drivers to stay away from flooded roads. The National Weather Service reported life-threatening flash flooding in parts of Maricopa County, with between two and four inches of rain falling in one warned area. Flooding affected roads, highways, streets, washes and urban areas, while lingering runoff continued creating dangerous conditions even after the strongest thunderstorms weakened. Flash flooding also reached other parts of Arizona, including the Grand Canyon, where flooding affected Bright Angel Creek, the North Rim Campground and sections of the Colorado River. The North Rim was temporarily closed while crews assessed conditions and cleared debris, with no injuries reported from the new flooding. This video covers the Arizona flash flooding, Maricopa helicopter rescue, Phoenix flooding, Scottsdale flooding, Mesa flooding, flooded roads, water rescues and monsoon storm impacts across Arizona. #ArizonaFlashFlooding #PhoenixFlooding #ArizonaFlooding
