Description

Guo Jingcheng competed for China in swimming at the Paralympics, racing in the butterfly event. Unlike the other swimmers in his race, he competed without goggles or a swim cap and remained underwater for the entire race. His underwater technique allowed him to maintain his position beneath the surface rather than repeatedly surfacing to breathe. In the final stretch, Guo accelerated toward the wall and finished by striking it with his head. He won the race by 0.34 seconds and set a new world record, earning the gold medal.
