What Purgatory Really Is (And Why It's the Most Hopeful Teaching in the Church)

Purgatory is not a punishment. It may be the most hopeful teaching in the Church. Here is what Catholics truly believe. Many people fear purgatory. They picture endless flames and an angry God. But the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches something very different. Those in purgatory are already saved. They are being healed so they can fully enter the joy of heaven. In this video, a Catholic priest explains what purgatory is, what it is not, and where the teaching comes from in Scripture, the Church Fathers, Pope Benedict XVI, and Saint Catherine of Genoa. You will also learn how to pray for your loved ones who have died, especially in November, the month of the Holy Souls. Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, or simply searching, this answers a question every heart asks: what happens to us after death? Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:15 and Philippians 1:6 Is there a name you want to remember before All Souls Day on November 2? Share the first name in the comments, and our whole community will remember them in prayer. If this gave you hope, like the video, subscribe, and watch next: What Happens the Moment You Die?
