Description
🔗 The Complete Method I Teach, Written Down — The Door, The Road, The Days Away: https://edbrannigan.com
I spent twenty-eight years with the Chicago Police Department, eleven of them working burglaries, and I sat across an interview table from more than four hundred of the men who committed them. Nearly all of them told me the same thing: the house gets picked days before it gets hit. This video is about the marks they leave behind while they're deciding.
Some of these you've probably already found on your own doorstep and blamed on squirrels, the wind, or the neighbor's kids. The flyer wedged low in the door seam. The pebble on the doormat. Tape over a keyhole, a thread across the frame, a zip tie on the gate latch, a broken basement window with nothing taken, a trash bag that went missing the night before pickup. Number one I had never heard of in my entire career until a twenty-six-year-old explained it to me in an interview room in 2018. I went home and checked my own gate that night. I still check it.
None of this is about confronting anyone. If you find a mark, photograph it where it sits, write down the date, call your non-emergency line, and tell your neighbors. If something is happening at your door right now, that's 911. Stay inside and let the police have it.
The full walk-around I do on my own house, door to gate, room by room, is in my book, Off the List. It's the long version of what I talk about on this channel: [LINK]
I read the comments. Tell me what you've found on your step.
