Description
THE BARN FIND BIBLE, the maker marks, the stamps, the dating rules and the real sold prices, all in one place: https://barnfindbible.com/
Ten dollars. That is what I paid for a wooden Coke crate out of a hay loft outside Dwight, Illinois. Twenty four bottles under a coat of pigeon dust. Twenty three were the green curvy bottle everybody knows. The twenty fourth had no curves. Straight sides, pale green glass, and Coca Cola in script on both shoulders. Then I turned it over.
An old Coke bottle tells you where it was filled. The bottling town is right there in the glass, and almost nobody ever turns it over.
Most old Coke bottles in most basements are worth a dollar to a few dollars, and I say so plainly. Coca Cola filled more bottles than anybody can count. The money is in the early shapes, the rare colors, the small town bottlers, and the right marks.
In this video:
The plain green contour bottle, the fifties to the seventies
Commemorative and anniversary bottles
The painted label bottles and the oddball sizes
The Christmas patent bottle
The straight sided script bottle, clear or aqua
The amber straight sided bottle
The early 1915 patent bottle in blue glass
The small town Midwest bottler
The Hutchinson Coca Cola bottle
The 1915 prototype from the Root Glass Company in Terre Haute, Indiana
And a warning on the fakes: reproduction Hutchinsons, keepsake copies of the prototype, and no genuine curvy Coke bottle was ever made in amber or purple.
I am a picker, not an appraiser, and I do not put a number on things other people own. Every price here is a range off real sold results.
So go down to the basement tonight and turn every bottle over. Then tell me in the comments what city is on the bottom of yours, and where you are watching from. I answer every single one.
