Description
How China Built a 180,000 KG Space Station the US Tried to Stop From Existing
In 2011, a U.S. law effectively barred China from ever joining the International Space Station. Rather than give up on crewed spaceflight, China spent the next decade building its own station from scratch — testing the concept with two precursor modules (one of which made global headlines with an uncontrolled, unplanned reentry), then assembling a full T-shaped station from three separately launched modules between 2021 and 2022, all while its own rocket's uncontrolled core-stage reentries drew repeated international criticism. This is the story of Tiangong, the space station China built entirely alone after being told it couldn't join anyone else's.
