Description

Take a glass out of your cabinet and hold it up to the window. A cloudy film? Grit inside the coffee mug? Food bits dried onto "clean" plates, a sour dishrag smell when the door opens, maybe standing water that will not leave? Somebody in your kitchen already said "this dishwasher is done." Mi amigo, put the glass down. Your dishwasher has a FILTER in the floor of it — it twists out with two fingers, no tools — and it has been catching everything that ever came off your family's plates for years, because almost nobody in this country knows it exists. Today I show you where it hides, the five-minute monthly rinse that brings a ten-year-old machine back from the grave, and then we follow the water all the way out — so the grit, the smell, and the standing water all die on the same Saturday. Nothing today needs a tool except a toothpick. In this video: • A dishwasher is a FOUNTAIN, not a soak-box — it re-sprays the same few inches of floor water all cycle. Full filter = washing your dishes with dirty water. That's the film and the grit. • THE FILTER: bottom rack out, quarter-turn twist, lift. Hot water + dish soap + old toothbrush. Feel the sump CAREFULLY (flat fingers — broken glass goes exactly there). ⚠️ It must LOCK back in — a loose filter feeds debris straight into the pump, the one part that costs real money. • SPRAY ARMS: hold them to the light — every hole with no daylight is a jet your dishes aren't getting. Toothpick, rinse, shake out what rattles. Spin them free — and move the skillet handle blocking the road. • 💧 THE WON'T-DRAIN ROAD, all four stops: filter/sump → pinched hose + the HIGH LOOP under the sink → ⭐ the DISPOSAL KNOCK-OUT PLUG (if the drain problem was born the same week as a new garbage disposal, that's it, 99 to 1 — one screwdriver tap) → the chrome AIR GAP cap by the faucet • Run the disposal a few seconds BEFORE starting the dishwasher — they share a drain • 🔥 STOP PRE-RINSING your dishes. The enzymes in modern detergent need food to grab — scrape solids into the trash, leave the smear. You're paying for hot water twice, and over-cleaning helps etch glassware cloudy. • Rinse aid is NOT a scam — I checked, because I assumed it was. Sheets the water off so minerals can't dry into spots. Two dollars a month, real difference. (It will not become a habit.) • The free HOT-START trick: run the kitchen faucet hot for 10–20 seconds before pressing start, so the wash begins hot instead of warming cold pipe water • The sour smell? Nine times out of ten it WAS the filter. The gasket, corners, and freshening wash are my wife's department — she has a whole video on it. Tell me in the comments: how many YEARS was that filter in there, the worst thing you found in it, and your county. I have already heard glass, pits, a Lego, and a tooth. A TOOTH. I read every one.
