Description
**SHOCKING: Israel Just Uncovered Another Secret Beneath the Pool of Siloam**
Beneath the streets of ancient Jerusalem, archaeologists are still uncovering pieces of a city that was once buried beneath later construction—and the discoveries around the Pool of Siloam are revealing just how complex this ancient water system really was.
The Pool of Siloam was part of Jerusalem’s major water and pilgrimage infrastructure during the Second Temple period. Excavations around it have uncovered streets, walls, drainage channels and additional water installations dating across different periods of the city’s history.
One especially intriguing discovery was a **second plastered pool built directly beside the Siloam Pool**. Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority dated it to the later first century CE, probably during the Great Revolt against Rome. Pottery and coins from its foundations helped establish its date.
And there is an even bigger revelation.
In 2026, the ancient **Pilgrimage Road connecting the Siloam area with the Temple Mount** opened to the public after years of excavation. Archaeologists believe this monumental route was constructed around 2,000 years ago to carry pilgrims toward the Temple.
So what lies beneath Jerusalem isn't simply one hidden room.
It is an entire buried infrastructure—roads, pools, drains and buildings—showing how ancient Jerusalem functioned beneath the modern city.
And archaeologists are still digging.
