Discovering Deltarune's Deceptively Deep Mechanics

Gameplay in Deltarune is a controversial thing. There's people who hate how underutilized each major mechanic is. I can't blame them, we get new mechanics in each chapter, but they rarely get used to their full potential. However, just because these mechanics aren't always used ideally, doesn't mean they're simple. It's quite the opposite. Even just in Deltarune Chapter 5, every gameplay mechanic has been so well thought out and stuffed full of so many special interactions that it's baffling. It can be easy to focus on what Deltarune's mechanics don't do, so I thought I'd showcase some of the craziest examples of what they do accomplish. It's a whole lot for sure. From tracking Yellow to modifying check text to changing Ralsei's death sprites to making Flowery pity you for getting an answer wrong, this game is full of so many details. Details that make its mechanics more interesting to engage with than by just playing the game to beat it.
