Discovering Deltarune Chapter 1's Deceptively Deep Battle Mechanics

Please tell me how much I'm reaching in my interpretations of these mechanics. It's important to remain humble. It is fascinating to me how much of video game stories can be told without words. Mechanics and systems in games are complex enough that they can become immensely strong storytelling devices. At least, that's what I saw in Undertale. And now, that's what I see in Deltarune. Deltarune Chapter 1 has some of the strongest gameplay sequences I've ever seen. Not necessarily because of the complexity of the battle systems, but because those systems are used in complex ways to tell stories and communicate information! It's a bit of a confusing distinction, I know, but one I hope to showcase in this video.
