🔗 Save Money On Meat With My Complete Butcher's Method I teach: https://frankmillerbutcher.com
You're staring at two New York strips in a tray for $54.99, while the whole strip loin those steaks came off sits a few feet away at $9.99 a pound.
Most people walk right past it because they think breaking down a whole loin takes years of training and special equipment. After 31 years behind the block, I can tell you it takes a sharp knife and about 15 to 20 minutes.
In this one I walk you through the whole sequence — checking the grade stamp and pack date, trimming the fat cap to a quarter inch, reading the grain, and cutting consistent steaks right down the natural taper.
A 14 to 18 pound loin gives you 14 to 18 individual steaks. On a 16 pound loin at $10 a pound, that's around 16 steaks near a pound each, and savings well over $200 on one purchase.
I'm honest about the downsides too: you need real freezer space, the end cuts won't look as pretty as a processed tray, and your first attempt will take longer than mine does.
If strip steak is a regular thing in your house and you're tired of paying someone else to do 15 minutes of slicing, this is the one to watch before your next warehouse run.
