Description

Medicare is now providing certain GLP-1 medications for $50 a month for eligible beneficiaries — but not everyone with Medicare qualifies. In this video, I explain the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, who may qualify, which medications are currently included, how the $50 monthly copayment works, and what you should discuss with your healthcare provider. The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a temporary nationwide program for certain people with Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. It began July 1, 2026 and is currently scheduled to continue through December 31, 2027. Currently covered medications include certain formulations of Wegovy, Zepbound, and Foundayo. Eligibility requirements apply, and your healthcare provider may need to complete a prior authorization. Medicare also requires your provider to certify that the medication is being used as part of a lifestyle program focused on diet and exercise.
