Description

In 1968, a ten year old girl in Newcastle Upon Tyne killed two small children. A year later the Manson family murdered seven people in Los Angeles. Nobody could agree on why either happened, and the argument over the cause became almost as consuming as the crimes themselves. Robert Wynne-Simmons watched all that and wrote a horror film. He moved the story back to 1712 and gave the whole problem a face. A demon. Blood on Satan's Claw is remembered as one of the great British folk horrors, alongside Witchfinder General and The Wicker Man. It's also a film about where a society puts the blame when children do something monstrous, and about how convenient it is to have a monster available to take it. This episode looks at the demon, at Angel Blake, and at the adults nobody ever puts on trial. #BloodOnSatansClaw #FolkHorror #BritishHorror #CultCinema #LindaHayden #Tigon #1970sHorror #HorrorMovies #VideoEssay #FilmAnalysis #MaryBell #MoviedromeRedux #WickerMan #WitchfinderGeneral #FilmHistory
