Description
KwaZulu-Natal has witnessed escalating violence, with houses set alight, vehicles torched, shops vandalised and looted, and protesters arrested.
But the leader of March and March has raised a serious question: DID THE GOVERNMENT CREATE THE CONDITIONS FOR THIS VIOLENCE?
Responding to the unrest, she argues that South Africans have become a ticking time bomb after years of government inaction. According to her, the government's failure to address longstanding frustrations has created fertile ground for the violence now unfolding.
With reports of 13 arrests, two to three houses burnt, damaged vehicles and looted shops, the situation raises urgent questions about public safety, accountability and the government's response.
But where does government responsibility end and individual criminal accountability begin?
Can frustration with government failures ever justify burning homes, destroying businesses or looting shops?
In this episode, we examine the March and March leader's remarks, the destruction in KwaZulu-Natal, the role of government and the consequences of allowing public frustration to escalate.
What do you think? Is government inaction responsible for creating these conditions, or are those committing acts of violence solely responsible for their actions?
