Father and Son Restore a Ruined 150-Year-Old Stone House on a Mountain | 300 Days

Father and son take on the massive challenge of restoring a ruined stone house that has stood on a mountain for nearly 150 years. With a collapsed roof, rotten timber, damaged floors, crumbling masonry, and years of moisture trapped inside, the old house needs far more than a simple renovation. Instead of tearing it down, they carefully preserve its original character while rebuilding the parts that can no longer be saved. The restoration begins with clearing the interior, lowering and rebuilding the floor, improving drainage, and protecting the structure from mountain moisture. They then repair the ancient stone walls, rebuild the entire timber roof, reuse traditional roof tiles, install large windows and skylights, and gradually transform the dark interior into a warm and functional home. Inside, they build a modern bathroom, handcrafted kitchen, mezzanine, wooden staircase, and heating area while keeping the original stone walls visible throughout the house. What begins as a deteriorating mountain ruin slowly comes back to life through months of demanding manual work, traditional craftsmanship, and careful restoration.
