Description

Apollo 13, though slated as the 3rd Moon landing to the Fra Mauro Highlands, an oxygen tank failure and subsequent damage at 55 hours 54 minutes and 53 seconds changed the mission to a race for survival, it now used a free return trajectory with a powered TEI (PC+2 Speed-Up Burn) to decrease time to Earth. Though difference remain the near tragedy and heroic efforts to save all is nothing short of Historic 🚀 Creator Note for the space history buffs! The T+ 79:27:39 mark was technically the PC+2 Speed-Up Burn using the Lunar Module descent engine to shave off 10 hours from the return trip. The actual burn that initially restored their free-return trajectory was MCC-4 back at T+ 61:29:43. But difficult to show in this short animation Hope you enjoy the side-by-side! #apollo13 #Artemis ii #free return trajectory
