Description

The most famous nine-millimeter in America just got its best redesign in a decade. Better grip, better trigger, a real optic system at last. And somewhere between the old version and the new one, the list price went up about a hundred and fifty dollars. The Glock 19 Gen 6 is the best Glock I have ever seen, and it is not my number one. So nobody takes it the wrong way, here is where I stand. I have owned Glocks a long time. I have carried them, sold them, bought them back, and recommended them to more first-time buyers than I can count. This is not me picking a fight with Austria. It is me looking at what the money actually buys in 2026. My standard for best is not the gun that wins a magazine shootout. It is the one I would tell a friend to spend his own money on, then feed, practice with, and trust for twenty years. Price matters. Magazines matter. And the catch nobody prints on the box matters most of all. The irony at the top of this list is hard to miss. For decades the Gen 3 Glock 19 was the most copied pistol in America. Then in late 2025 Glock walked away from that old pattern and raised its price. And the pistol I would tell my own brother to buy runs the magazines from a Glock that Glock does not even build the old way anymore. What we go through: Beretta 92FS, the old M9, and why the weight is the whole point Sig Sauer P365, why the best seller is not the best pistol The Sig P320, why it is missing from the ranking, and what the reports actually say Smith and Wesson M&P9 M2.0, the safest value buy and the trigger to check Springfield Armory Echelon, the optic system that skips the adapter plates CZ P-10 C, the best pure bargain, and what it sells for used Canik METE SFx, eighteen rounds, a five-inch barrel, and the catch Walther PDP, the best-shooting polymer pistol here, and the F-Series for smaller hands Glock 19 Gen 6, the biggest shake-up in Glock history, and why it lands at number three Staccato P, the twenty-five-hundred-dollar 2011 on more than two thousand duty approvals Number one, and how it beats guns that cost more than five times as much Said plainly on the P320: I am not calling it defective. Courts and engineers will sort that out. But on a best list, unresolved doubt is a cost. If you own one, follow Sig's official guidance and use a quality holster that fully covers the trigger, which is good advice for every pistol. And magazine limits and handgun rosters differ from state to state, so check what is legal where you live before you buy anything on this list. There is no brand loyalty in any of this. Expensive did not win. Popular did not win. Famous did not win. The gun that fit the whole picture won: the pistol, the magazines, the holsters, the price, and the years of ownership after the box is empty. If you like this kind of straight talk, I wrote a lot of it down over years of buying, selling and second-guessing. My book is at ivansjournal.com Tell me in the comments: Gen 6 Glock or the gun at number one, with your own money? Tell me which and why. And if you own a CZ P-10 C, tell me whether I was fair to it.
