Description

A rare look at Samuel F. B. Morse (1791–1872), the American artist and inventor whose work transformed long-distance communication. Morse helped develop the electric telegraph and the signaling system that became known around the world as Morse code. This remarkable daguerreotype was produced by Mathew Brady’s studio sometime between 1844 and 1860. Morse was also an important pioneer of early photography in America and helped introduce the daguerreotype process to a new generation of photographers. This historic portrait has been carefully restored and brought to life while preserving Morse’s authentic historical appearance. The original daguerreotype is preserved by the Library of Congress. Follow Real Faces of the Past for more authentic historical photographs, faithfully restored and brought back to life. #samuelmorse #morsecode #telegraph #historicalphotos #photorestoration #shorts
