Description
Can you make an effective DIY dehumidifier without tools or electricity? Today I’m using calcium chloride and an unexpected household item to create an incredibly simple moisture absorber for about $2.
Then I’ll scale up the same idea into a much larger bucket dehumidifier with greater capacity. I’ll also explain whether adding a fan is really worthwhile—and why this passive design should not be confused with a commercial electric dehumidifier.
This may be useful for closets, bathrooms, storage areas, campers, garages and other smaller damp spaces. Results will vary depending on temperature, humidity, airflow and the size of the area.

⚠️ SAFETY: Calcium chloride can irritate skin and eyes. Wear gloves and eye protection, avoid breathing the dust, and never ingest the crystals or collected liquid. Keep away from children and pets. Follow the product label and local disposal requirements.
