Description

You packed for every possible version of the vacation: a hot port day, a cold dining room, a formal dinner, a windy deck, a rainy excursion, and backups for the backups. If you're cruising after sixty, you probably do not need half of it. The smartest packing list is not the longest one. It is the one where everything works together. I'm Calvin Rusk. I'm sixty-five. Here is how I build almost an entire cruise wardrobe around nine core clothing pieces, not counting underwear, socks, shoes or swimwear: the one pair of pants everything else has to work around, how three tops and two pairs of pants become six combinations before you add a layer, why you should not assume you can pack an iron or steamer, and number one, the piece I wear onto the ship so it never takes up suitcase space at all. How many outfits do you normally pack for a seven-day cruise? Put the number in the comments, and be honest. Next time: the handful of things I never let leave my side on embarkation day, and the one that can ruin your whole first day if your suitcase arrives late. #CruiseTips #CruisePacking #CruiseAfter60
