Inside your car's wheel hub is a heavy-duty roller bearing that takes the entire weight of your vehicle. If it runs dry, the extreme friction will melt the solid steel and snap your wheel right off the axle! To stop this, mechanics hand-pack the bearing by aggressively forcing thick grease deep inside the metal cage. But there is a massive debate happening in this video! The mechanic uses their bare hands to smear a huge, extra glob of grease directly onto the outside of the axle spindle. Old-school mechanics swear by this, but modern technicians warn that using too much grease will cause it to expand, blow out the rubber wheel seals, and ruin your brakes!
