Description

The world of anime often comes to life based on the works of Japanese manga artists, with classics such as One Piece, Demon Slayer, and Jujutsu Kaisen all being adapted for television from famous manga. However, manga are not every anime creator’s cup of tea, and there’s a whole world of adaptations out there that have been inspired by other forms of literature. One such famous genre is classic Western novels, and the late 70s to early 90s were a booming time for these stories to be turned into anime! From Little Women being adapted into Ai no Wakakusa Monogatari to The Secret Garden being adapted into Himitsu no Hanazono, these releases were the talk of town, bringing foreign concepts to life in a Japanese art form. Sadly, many of them have been forgotten over time, and today, I will be taking you through some of the top 10 forgotten anime based on classic Western novels.
