Description

Every Artifact in NYCC’s Dooms Lab for Doomsday Explained Start with the item that should be impossible to own. Thanos's helmet, cracked and sitting on a shelf in Doctor Doom's lab. In the MCU, the Mad Titan went out in two different ways: the main-timeline Thanos lost his head to Thor in Endgame, and the 2014 version was wiped out by the snap Tony Stark made with the stones. So whatever this helmet is, it probably came from somewhere else, from a universe where Thanos met a different ending, and that is exactly the point. Thanos first showed up in Iron Man number 55 back in February 1973, and Marvel's comics already contain the scene this helmet seems to tease. In the 2015 Secret Wars, in issue number 8 by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic, Thanos gets past God Emperor Doom's defenses and tells him to kneel, calling him a weak god and a pretender. Doom asks one calm question: do you have the Infinity Gauntlet on you? Thanos says no. Doom rips out his spine. That's it. No stones, no real fight, one move. And now look at who's playing Doom: the man who spent a decade as Iron Man, the guy who actually beat Thanos. If this lab is a trophy room, the first thing on display is a message that the greatest threat the Avengers ever faced was a warm-up for Victor von Doom. This video covers every item in Doctor Doom's lab in Avengers: Doomsday and the comic history behind each one. It looks at Thanos' cracked helmet and the Secret Wars scene it teases, Cyclops' missing ruby quartz visor, a fragment of Mjolnir and Doom's failed attempt to lift it in Fantastic Four #537, and the Silver Surfer's board from Fantastic Four #57. It also covers the Venom symbiote sample left over from Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ultron's head, the three Doom masks and the Parliament of Doom, the Tesseract and the Space Stone, and the Ultimate Nullifier from Fantastic Four #50. 🔔 Subscribe for more Marvel breakdowns. #AvengersDoomsday #DoctorDoom #MCUExplained
