Description

Karl Gebhardt was one of the most influential and infamous physicians of Nazi Germany during the Second World War, a man whose medical career became inseparable from some of the worst crimes committed during the Holocaust. Under his supervision, female prisoners—many of them Polish—were subjected to brutal procedures involving infected wounds, bone grafting, amputations, and sterilization experiments. These acts formed part of a wider program of Nazi human experimentation, carried out without consent and with devastating consequences. Gebhardt also oversaw forced abortions and experiments on children, firmly embedding him among the most notorious Nazi doctors. After Germany’s defeat, Gebhardt was arrested and tried in the Doctors’ Trial at Nuremberg. He showed no remorse, insisting his actions were scientifically ju
