THE FOUR DEER OF YGGDRASIL | What Do They Know? — NORDVAR

Four deer walk among the branches of Yggdrasil. Dáinn. Dvalinn. Duneyrr. Duraþrór. They feed upon the leaves of the World Tree. But what have they seen from there? What do they know of Odin? What do they know of the worlds beyond ours? And when our eyes finally close... will we see what they have seen? THE FOUR DEER OF YGGDRASIL is a NORDVAR ritual folk journey inspired by the four stags named in Norse mythology — Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór. Old Norse and English voices move through bowed drones, primitive flute, frame drums and the sounds of the forest as a Völva questions the silent witnesses of Yggdrasil. Hvat vitið þér? What do you know? Hvat sjáið þér? What do you see? Dáinn... Dvalinn... Duneyrr... Duraþrór... Perhaps they know. Perhaps they will never tell us. NORDVAR #Nordvar #norsemusic #yggdrasill
