Description

Ten American EVs that were a total disaster, and the companies that built them knew it before you ever signed the paperwork. Electric vehicles were supposed to be the future. Clean energy, lower costs, American innovation leading the world into a new era of transportation. That was the pitch. That was what the commercials showed you. Happy families charging up in suburban garages, smiling executives standing in front of gleaming assembly lines, politicians cutting ribbons on billion-dollar battery plants. The reality for a lot of buyers was something completely different. Range that collapsed the moment temperatures dropped. Charging infrastructure that existed mostly on marketing slides. Software glitches that turned a sixty-thousand-dollar vehicle into an expensive brick sitting in a dealership service lane for three months while the manufacturer figured out what went wrong. These weren't obscure startup failures from companies nobody had heard of. Several of these came from the biggest names in American manufacturing. Names that should have known better. Names that did know better, and sold the cars anyway. Today we're counting down ten American EVs that were disasters, the specific problems that made them disasters, and why the people who built them had every reason to see it coming long before you handed over your money.
